Born in Switzerland to Egyptian parents, Philip Shalam was raised in London, where he studied printing and paper manufacturing at the London College of Printing. Philip’s interest in photography began with his collection of graphics, in particular posters, an art form reflected in his photographs. The strong colors, sharp diagonals, geometric forms and architectural themes all hark back to those early forms of eye catching advertising.
A wide array of subject matter is endowed with new meaning and beauty through Philip’s eye, he offers us a reality from a unique perspective, illuminating a moment in time and bathing it in shades that often escape our notice.
